“Ughh, not again!!”
Every Nepali gamer has probably yelled this statement a thousand times over at this point.
Games are meant to reduce our stress and let us have fun, right? Yes. But are we as relaxed when it comes to playing games while living in Nepal? Barely so.
Even gaming comes with a lot of problems. And if we point them out, we are the bad, ‘ungrateful’ people. We just don’t understand what kind of faulty logic that is!
Well, let’s dig into some struggles only a Nepali gamer has to live up with every day.
Low- End PC
Many of us are still relying on Low-End PC to play games. As it is built to handle everyday tasks such as surfing, office and so on, playing more massive games on these PC is a big NO. You might be able to perform simple games, but for games like AAA, these computers won’t be able to withstand it.
High-End PC? Though High-End PCs have started becoming more popular in the Nepali market, most people still cannot afford it. We can only hope that budget-friendly gaming PCs will be able to take an equal market in the coming days.
How can we not relate to this? We have sure come a long way from sitting through 16 hours of the dark load-shedding days. And even though we have almost constant electricity thanks to Kulman sir, there are still unexpected power-cuts every once in a while.
Remember those times, when you are just a minute away for completing the mission and, the light goes BOOM!!!
Getting a loser tag from the friends for not completing the mission and letting the whole team lose because of that stupid power-cut. Nothing can be more frustrating than this, right?
Well, thanks to Kulman Ghising.
It will be easy for rich kids to buy those expensive games. But, what about us middle-class people who want to play games like Skyrim so badly. Sadly, it’s still a dream for many of us.
Though many of us have pirated games and illegally downloaded it, what options were left with us anyway. We, too, want to play all those expensive games like a normal enthusiastic gamer.
Low Internet Bandwidth:
Guess what, Nepal was placed 130 out of 145 countries in internet speed by the latest Speedtest Global Index. So, it’s not surprising that we are facing the problem of low internet bandwidth.
As each gaming system has its requirement of the internet, especially for online games, it is hard for us to cope with this problem.
Dear Government of Nepal, look into our problems too.
We don’t want to be called noobs just because we were killed by creeps due to the lagging internet. UGH!
Gaming Cafe Expenses
What can be fascinating to us gamers than going to Gaming Cafe and playing our favorite games without any disturbance? But, have you heard about those expenses incurred while enjoying those games?
We need to say bye-bye to our pocket money and remain broke for the rest of the month. However, we all know it’s all worth it when we win those games and return with happy faces. Just hoping there were more gaming cafes in the town at a reasonable price.
Non-Gamers’ commentary on us
Have you ever gone through a period when you are too much into the game, and non-gamers come from nowhere and leave an unnecessary opinion?
We don’t need like that of negativity here. Would you be kind enough to understand our feelings here and just let us play our game? We don’t judge you when you go and do stupid things.
High Ping while Gaming
High Ping is one of the most frustrating things while playing online games. Especially if you are playing multiplayer games online, and you get to experience that pain of online lag. You are shooting that villain, and instead of winning the game, you get to die.
You will be portrayed as a bad player in the team, and you will be like, “Hello! I am the best player, ok, it’s my internet that is betraying!”
Are these Chinese “Gaming” peripherals worth buying for competitive Gaming? Being the neighboring country, most peripherals we find on the market are Chinese. But can we depend upon them?
While we are playing games with much excitement and if suddenly some device stops working, well because it is Chinese aka, of low quality. We all know how much it hurts to keep buying the same appliance frequently. And the deathly stare you get from mom is enough to haunt you for weeks!
Parents don’t understand
And the best for last.
Mom calls you for dinner, but you are in the middle of a crucial fight and there’s no way to can ‘pause’. Because duh, you are playing an online game. Still, our mom, being the typical Nepali mom, asks us to pause the game.
Even though you explain it to her all the time, she’ll still repeat the same thing over and over again. If you say anything, you’re apparently talking back. And she will just keep blackmailing you about “wasting time on meaningless games” for months. Seriously, mom?
Damn, you can’t even deny her because, well, we all know how mothers are. Is everyone’s mother like this? Maybe, of course, but if not, then consider yourself lucky.
Well, these are some of the problems we face while playing games. If you are a Nepali gamer and have gone through more issues like these, don’t forget to share it with us in the comments below. Tell us your mom’s favorite blackmailing dialogues when she sees you on the computer!
