Amd and Intel are not only different brands but their CPU sockets are also different form each and the motherboard as well.
Bga ( ball grid array) is an extension of LGA socket

Zfi( zero insertion force) is another variant of PGA socket

LGA(land grid array)
is mainly used by Intel

  • The cpu is less likely to get damaged
  • lga2011.jpg
  • but the pins of the motherboard are quite sensitive
PGA (pin grid array)
is mainly used by AMD

  • More durable motherboard thus The motherboard can hardly be damaged by CPU misalignment.300px-Socket_7.jpg
  • Easier to get repaired the bent pins of the processor than the pins of LGA socket motherboard.
I personally prefer LGA socket CPUs cause it's less likely to damage, but the mother board is quite sensitive than PGA socket motherboard.
But I can't say specifically that one of them is better than other.
