Cyberpunk 2077 performance using RTX 3090 and 3080

Nvidia has confirmed that the most anticipated game-- Cyberpunk 2077 will support both Ray Tracing and Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS) which is not of any surprise as you can see from the trailer of the game where lighting, reflection, shadows, and every other detail seem to be very realistic. Nvidia has shared the performance of the game with its new ampere GPUs-- RTX 30 series along with the previous powerful card i.e. RTX 2080Ti.

System Requirement:

Before getting down to the performance of the game, you would want to know about the system requirement for running this heavy game. If your PC has the 5th gen i7 processor and GTX 1660 Super or GTX 1060 6 GB along with 12GB of RAM, you can play this game on a low setting with Ray Tracing off. For playing this game at a high and ultra setting, you will need the RTX 2060 and RTX 3070 or RTX 2080 Super respectively. Similarly, if you want to enjoy the Ray Tracing feature (which you definitely want to), you need to have the RTX 3080 or RTX 3090 for better FPS at higher settings with 16GB of RAM and the latest gen i7 would be perfect. However, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 will also do the job but you will have to lower the graphic settings. With the latest ampere GPUs, the game will be able to take the advantage of second-generation Ray Tracing and DLSS feature.

Performance:

None of Nvidia's card is able to provide 60 FPS at 4k max settings even with DLSS on. If you turn off the DLSS, you won't even get 30 FPS at 4k max settings which none of the gamers want. However, if you lower the resolution of the game, you will start to get better FPS.

The RTX 3090 barely touches 60 FPS at 4k whereas the RTX 3080 and the RTX 2080Ti hit 51.8 and 38.2 FPS respectively with DLSS turned on. You wouldn't want to turn off the DLSS feature as you will be getting only 22 FPS on the RTX 3090 and 13.4 FPS & 15.5 FPS on the RTX 2080Ti and the RTX 3080 respectively.

The performance seems better at 1440p resolution as the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3080 hit more than 60FPS. Nvidia has also added the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3060 Ti to the list as you can see above. The RTX 2080 Ti and the RTX 3070 as well provide 50 FPS whereas the RTX 3060 Ti provides 45 FPS which is fine for the GPU at that price range. Seeing the performance report, no one would want to buy the RTX 2080 Ti right now. You must turn on the DLSS feature for better FPS but you will still be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 at 40 FPS with DLSS turned off on the $1,499 card.

Now, this is the perfect choice of resolution for the owner of the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070. If you have the RTX 3090 or the RTX 3080, you still would want to play the game on 1440p resolution. However, if you want to play the game on the 1080p resolution using the RTX 3090 and the RTX 3080, you will get an average of 100 and 90 FPS respectively. Now comes the exciting part-- the RTX 3070 hits 70 FPS on average which is worth the price of the GPU. Not only the RTX 3070 but also the RTX 3060 Ti is able to provide almost 65 FPS on average to the gamers with DLSS turned on. Hence, 1080p will be an absolute choice for the people having (or planning to buy) the RTX 3070 or the RTX 3060Ti card.

Note: It's obvious that you will be getting different FPS based on your processor and RAM as the test machine for this benchmark is i9-10900k with 32 GB of RAM.

Is this test without the online DRM? The media versions were all with Denuvo tech infamous for degrading performance.

And is it only me or the RTX implementation in this game looks ugly? Softer shadows , blur, less sharpness. Let's hope the patches will do the magic.

And I thought that the Ray Tracing was better haha ( I haven't watched other Ray Tracing supported gameplays which might be the reason this game looked better to me).

I suggest you to watch Metro Exodus RT showcase. It was released back in early 2019 and it still has the best implementation of DLSS and RT imo. CP is way larger in scale and probably needs a lot more patches to achieve its  true graphical potential like WD: Legion and Control.
