Twitch to support creators by running more ads

Recommended Posts

Twitch said on twitter that they would start running mandatory mid-roll ads on their platform for viewers. This will help the creators who have lot of non-subscribed viewers, even twitch affiliates and partner channels. The revenue from these ads will go to the creators from whose streams the ad has been viewed from but they will have no control and knowledge of the ads whatsoever.

Creators can disable the pre-roll ads if they include manual ad breaks but there is no way for them to disable the new ad experience on twitch except the fact that the viewer won't see automatic ads if they've recently seen a creator-run ad.

Twitch has received backlash from the community about the ads and ad revenue ,so its good for them that they decided to add this change as an experiment rather than a permanent change.
